Often young people who have visited the Centre with their school, college or parish ask if they can come back for a longer stay, and to meet this need we organise summer retreats (in July) called "YES Weeks". These are opportunities to grow in faith as part of a Christian community.
The YES Weeks include all the usual Kintbury retreat programme and more, such as...
- a chance to spend time with people your own age (16-21).
- meet new friends and see old ones again!
- a chance to reflect in the beautiful, sunny(!) Berkshire countryside.
- thought provoking, entertaining, presentations by all the T eam.
- a day trip to Bournemouth
- a chance to talk and share in small groups.
- plenty of time for walking and chatting to others.
- plenty of social time for football, cricket and of course it wouldn't be Kintbury without.... Jenga!
- a chance to celebrate the Eucharist in a new and exciting way. Bring your instruments along if you play!
- and on the final night the Kintbury Cabaret
The YES Week retreats take place in July, for about 50 people on each retreat. The programme on offer is a challenging one and is one which is on offer to individuals rather than large groups. We are therefore only able to take a small number from any one school on each retreat. Participants must be at least Year 11 age and Year 11 students require a letter of recommendation from their Kintbury contact teacher.
It is important, to stress that YES Weeks are not holidays. There will be a daily programme of prayer, reflection, discussion, liturgy and relaxation as well as a daytrip. We assume that those applying are committed to this programme, to the other people in the Centre and to its few, but important, rules.
The YES Weeks are a highlight of the year at St. Cassian's and we look forward to you joining us for one of them. Apply early to avoid disappointment.
In 2008 the YES Weeks are July 15-22 and July 24-31.
In 2009 the YES Weeks are July 14-21 and July 23-30.
In 2008 we are charging £125 for a YES Week.
