Grounds and amenities

St. Cassian's is located in many acres of beautiful Berkshire countryside, containing a mix of formal gardens, conservation areas and a small lake.

The main feature of the gardens is the very old Cedar tree which dates back to the original planting of the garden and re-building of the house about 1785. Other features include the beautiful Rhododendron blooms during spring/early summer and Our Lady's garden which is perfect for prayer, contemplation and reflection.

Local amenities include the historic town of Hungerford, a busy traditional market town, renowned for its many antique shops, restaurants and an open market on Wednesdays. Open common land surrounding the town and the Kennet and Avon Canal are ideal for walks.

Other areas of interest include Inkpen Hill (also known as Combe Gibbet long barrow), Ramsbury Crosses (dating from the 11th century when the Danish King Knut was on the throne of England) and Standen Manor Puddingstone.
