St. Cassian's Centre at Kintbury is a residential retreat centre, owned by the De La Salle Brothers and run by a mixed community of Brothers, lay staff, gap-year volunteers and support staff. It was founded in 1975 to provide retreat experiences for young people.
The majority of our year is spent welcoming young people from secondary schools across the British Isles. We also seek to support school staff, families and primary school children. Our hope is to encourage all to come away to St. Cassian's at Kintbury for a chance to reflect, find peace and enjoy being part of a welcoming community.
The key aim of the retreat centre is to provide a place of rest, acceptance and a chance to grow. Throughout the years of the Centre's existence, many young people have shared what for most is referred to as the 'Kintbury experience'.
Kintbury is in fact the name of the village nearest to St. Cassian’s but to those who come here, the name is synonymous with the retreat centre in the old manor-house of Wallingtons. Set in beautiful countryside, it is an ideal place for getting away from it all and for finding space in our crowded lives.
Our invitation is to join and complete our community during your time here. We have a well-established programme but we feel that this is secondary to the interaction and growing together that takes place during the course of a retreat.
